Electrical permit or Simple No-Plan eligibility check for panel, circuit, and service work
City of San Diego DSD says an Electrical Permit is required before electrical wiring, devices, appliances, or equipment are installed, altered, added, or replaced unless exempt. DSD's guide lists circuit breakers from 15 to 400 amps and conduit/junction-box-only work as Simple No-Plan MEP items, while circuit breakers exceeding 400 amps require a stand-alone electrical permit with building plans. Panel, service, meter, subpanel, feeder, or load changes should be confirmed with DSD and the utility before work starts.
