LADBS lists electrical installation for electric vehicle charging in single-family dwellings and commercial buildings with up to 400 amps of service as an express permit category, including needed charging equipment, service upgrade, receptacle, and associated wiring. EV charger projects outside the listed limits should be confirmed with LADBS before installation.
