Seattle
Construction permit check for window or door replacement scope
SDCI's permit guidance says most projects in Seattle require a permit and that minor repairs or alterations up to the listed value may be exempt, but it also says permits are required for work on load-bearing supports, changes to the building envelope, and work that reduces egress, light, ventilation, or fire resistance. Window and door projects should therefore confirm with SDCI whether the replacement is limited in-kind work or whether a construction permit is needed because the work changes the envelope, opening, egress, structural support, or fire-resistance conditions.
