Residential rooftop PV battery storage permit or electrical/building permit check

City of San Diego DSD's residential rooftop solar PV permit page says the permit is required for a residential rooftop-mounted solar PV system or battery storage system for single-family homes or duplex structures. It also says eligible residential rooftop PV work may include an energy storage system up to 38.4 kWh, with each unit not exceeding 20 kWh, when the listed criteria are met. Battery storage should be checked with DSD for solar coupling, electrical equipment, panel upgrades, fire, structural, building type, historic, and utility interconnection conditions before installation.
