Re-roofing EZ permit or building permit check

Philadelphia L&I's EZ permits page lists roof covering replacement as an EZ permit project type, and its re-roofing EZ standard says permits may be obtained for installing new roof coverings on existing roofs without plans when the standard is met. Roofing projects should be confirmed with L&I before work starts because the EZ path excludes listed historic buildings, sheathing replacement over 10 percent of roof area, load increases over 5 percent, roof or wall penetrations such as skylights, and other work that may require plans or a broader building permit.
