Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building permit check for heat pump work
Philadelphia L&I says a Mechanical Permit is needed to install devices regulated by the Mechanical and Fuel Gas Codes, including heating, venting, air conditioning, ductwork, and natural-gas equipment or piping. A heat pump installation or replacement should be checked with L&I before work starts because the scope can include mechanical equipment, ductwork, electrical power, plumbing or condensate changes, building alterations, exterior penetrations, historic review, or energy-code documentation.
