LADBS Express Permits list qualifying rooftop photovoltaic systems on one- or two-family dwellings, including capacity, service-panel, and equipment criteria for the online contractor path. LADBS solar guidance also says a building permit is required for structural support of all solar energy systems unless the listed roof-mounted exception conditions are met, and that the building permit exception does not waive electrical or plumbing permit requirements.
