Building permit check for windows and doors

Houston's residential plan review page says a building permit is required for most residential construction, remodeling, and building repair work inside Houston city limits, and only lists narrow exemptions such as limited window awnings and certain minor repair or maintenance work. Window and exterior door replacement should be confirmed with Houston Permitting Center before work proceeds, especially when the scope changes openings, structure, energy compliance, or other building systems.
