Denver's residential interior remodel guide says permits are required when changing the size of a doorway opening or creating a new opening, inside or outside the home. It also says new window, egress window, and skylight installations require permits, while permits are not required to replace doors, glass, or window frames unless the property is a designated landmark or in a historic district.
