Chicago's Express Permit Program solar instructions cover installation or replacement of a small rooftop solar photovoltaic system, with or without associated energy storage. The eligible new-installation scope includes a solar PV system with inverter output of 13.44 kW or less, with drawings and calculations prepared by an Illinois-licensed architect or structural engineer and an electrical drawing signed by an approved professional.
